WordPress Widget – Show Tweets
UPDATED 15 NOVEMBER 2009 – VERSION 2.1
Ever wanted to show your tweets in a widget on your WordPress sidebar (as on this site)? Now you can.
This widget used on this site is one that I developed myself, based loosely on other plugins and tutorials (including some borrowed code duly acknowledged in comments), and simply allows you to show a specified number of recent tweets from your Twitter timeline. It also allows you to choose whether to show replies you made to other people.
There are other Twitter plugins and widgets available, but I created this one because I wanted a lightweight widget that would do one thing and do it well.
I have now decided to make this widget (“ZigPress Show Tweets“) public, and you can grab it below. Install it like any other plugin (unzip it in your plugins folder and it will create its own folder).
Requirements
WordPress 2.8.0 or newer, PHP 5.0 or newer.
Tested on WordPress 2.8.6 running on PHP 5.2.9.
Download
zigpress-show-tweets.2.1.zip (version 2.1)
Changelog
Version 2.1 (15 Nov 2009) : Settings no longer deleted if deactivated
Version 2.0 (18 Oct 2009) : Initial public release
If ever there is a need to release a further version, this post will be updated.

Very nice! I have been looking at these and this seems to do pretty much what is needed! Nice job and thanks
Interesting widget to show my tweets and my visitors will be easily updated. You’re a good person sharing your discovery. I can try this in my blog site http://www.mysobe.com/miami-beach/. Thank you so much
Hey, nice plugin.
Nice simple setup as well – will definitely be looking at adding this to my blog.
Excellent widget – quite simple code as well, helps me to understand how widgets are created.
Nice plugin. Im gonna try it out. Seems very attractive…
Any wordpress/twitte plugin has to be looked at closely and this one ticks the box for me. we use wordpress a lot as a CMS and integrating with Twitter is important.
We’ve been struggling to find something that really does the business, so thanks a lot for the recommendation. Our site runs WP and we love to use twitter so it looks like it’s just a matter of installing that plug in now!
Seems good. I am trying it out!
