I am a developer and at many occassions have to recommend a hosting to my clients, do you have any references that support hosting on a month to month basis instead of a long contracts? As most of the clients I work are small businesses and they prefer to pay month to month to avoid huge startup costs.

In my opinion some of hosting sometimes offer big bandwidth or unlimited (just like you said) but the real limit is not on bandwidth. The real limit in CPU, memory and database resources. If we take cpu, memory and database resources higher than what web hosting allow us to use. They will suspend our website without warning.

Unfortunately, there is no way we can know the information about this resource. The web hosting also will not tell the customer in the beginning.
